Four ingredients, a blender, and an hour in the fridge.

This is a simple yet elevated chocolate mousse made with dates, cacao powder and heavy cream. The dates give it the sweetness, so there is no need to add sugar or honey. Everything goes into a blender and gets blended until smooth and creamy. Excellent option when you want something chocolatey but don’t want to make a full baked dessert. If you’ve been hunting for a healthy chocolate mousse that doesn’t lean on a sugar bowl, this is the one to try.

Why This Works

The dates give you the sweetness without adding sugar, and they also bring in fiber. Cacao adds antioxidants, while the pistachios add some protein, healthy fats and a bit of crunch. So you still get a proper chocolate dessert, but with some nutritional value too.

Notes & Tips

  • Soaking the dates: If your dates are soft, you don’t need to soak them. If they are firm, soaking makes blending easier.
  • Chill time: Chill the mousse for at least 30 minutes before serving.
  • Storage: Keep it refrigerated and use within 2–3 days.
  • Top it last: Add the pistachios and fruit just before serving so they stay fresh.
  • Make ahead: You can make the mousse a day ahead and keep it chilled.
