- Smoothie
A milkshake-thick chocolate smoothie hiding half a cup of cauliflower.
Cauliflower rice in a smoothie? You read that right. This Chocolate Shake Smoothie recipe is just that — a rich, thick, chocolate smoothie that is nutritious and made from whole ingredients that love you back. The secret is the cauliflower rice. It creates a creamy, super thick milkshake texture that’s totally tasteless, but adds body, fiber, and micronutrients. A great grab-and-go breakfast for those busy mornings. Freezing the cauliflower first is what keeps it from watering the drink down the way fresh florets would, but more on that below.
Why This Works
The cauliflower rice blends beautifully right into the smoothie, creating a luscious texture while keeping the added sugar and carb count in check.

Notes & Tips
- Milk swap: Swap out the oat milk for almond milk or your preferred milk.
- Protein boost: Replace the almond flour with 1 scoop of your favorite protein powder.
- No cacao nibs? Replace them with an equal amount of cacao powder.
- For milkshake vibes: Serve with a big dollop of unsweetened whipped cream or coconut whipped cream to give you those classic milkshake vibes.
- Storage: The smoothie is best enjoyed right away, but it can be sealed in an airtight container and stored in the fridge for up to 12 hours.
