How to Create Your Own Affordable Wellness Vacation

Wellness, Without the Ticket: The appeal of stepping away from your routine to focus entirely on how you feel is real, and wellness travel is a nearly trillion-dollar industry because of it. But with energy costs surging and flight costs rising alongside them, the price of wellness travel can negate some of the relaxation. The good news is that most of what makes these retreats beneficial doesn’t require a fancy resort in Bali.
The Benefits: Intentional downtime (things like breath work, bathing, walking, nature, and time away from screens) can lower cortisol, reduce blood pressure, and improve sleep. You just need to dedicate the time to focus on nothing other than rest.
How to Do It: Set an intention for the day, and put your phone away. Change your environment if you can; even a solo morning at a park or coffee shop with a journal counts. At home, run a bath, light a candle and some incense, and put on a sound healing playlist. The trick is treating the downtime like you booked that wellness retreat in Bali and ditched the trip insurance.
