What If Your Light Fixture Could Boost Your Mood?

The Trend: Your smartwatch keeps tabs on your health, but your home decor could soon help support it as part of the next wave of wellness tech. Enter Sunday, a brand setting itself apart by delivering bright-light therapy straight from the lamps in your home.
What People Are Saying: If you’ve ever listened to Andrew Huberman’s hugely popular health podcast, you know one of his favorite “protocols” is to step outside shortly after waking and let the sun hit your eyes. Just five to ten minutes of morning light, he says, can boost your mood and energy for the rest of the day. Sunday wants to bring that feeling indoors with its sculptural fixtures — called “daylight machines” — which look a bit like a James Turrell installation. Each one produces 34,000 lumens, bright enough to mimic natural light for anyone who spends most of the day inside.
What to Know: The benefits of light therapy are well established, with few downsides. Whether weaving that into home decor truly changes how we feel remains to be seen, but it certainly can’t hurt (aside from the price difference, which is massive compared to a tried-and-true light box).
