A couple of weeks back we covered the ‘boy kibble’ trend. For those of you who didn’t get a chance to read that story, the gist of the trend is that guys have been prep-cooking very bare-bones meals (think ground beef, rice, and nothing else) and calling it ‘boy kibble’ as a kind of mirror to ‘girl dinner.’

Why exactly it's so necessary to brand your style of prep-cooking is a bit beyond us. But one thing is true — eating the same or similar meals every day may actually help you attain your wellness goals. Just make sure to add veggies.

The Difficult People in Your Life Are Aging You Faster

Energy Vampires: You know that old friend or family member who leaves you feeling completely drained after every single interaction? New research published in PNAS suggests your body registers their presence, too, right down to the cellular level. These difficult people in your life may actually be speeding up how fast you're aging.

The Study: Researchers analyzed data from over 2,000 adults and measured biological aging using DNA methylation, which tracks how quickly the body is aging at a molecular level. Each additional “hassler” (someone the participant reported as causing problems or making their life difficult) was associated with roughly nine months of biological aging. That's because difficult relationships keep cortisol elevated and, over time, increase inflammatory markers like CRP and IL-6. Family hasslers showed the strongest effect, probably because you can't exactly break up with your mom or brother.

The Takeaway: Auditing who actually leaves you feeling good is a legitimate self-care practice. Also, keep in mind that the study also found that supportive relationships were linked to slower aging.

Keep in Mind: This is observational research, so that the effect could be attributed simply to association. People who are already aging faster may also be more likely to perceive relationships negatively.

The French Secret For a Stress-Free Sunday

The Trend: The viral “French Sunday” could be an antidote to the Sunday Scaries. In France, most shops close by noon on Sundays, removing the temptation to do anything “productive.” But anyone can enjoy a French Sunday by embracing the idea that Sundays are for rest, connection, and doing as little as possible. Rather than turning Sunday into another workday by grocery shopping, meal-prepping, tackling laundry, or reviewing calendars, a French Sunday is about chit-chatting over coffee, taking an aimless walk, and simply existing with no plans.

What People Are Saying: The typical American way of decompressing — scrolling on devices alone — increases stress and anxiety, while a French Sunday prioritizes presence and connection. That said, having time to do nothing can be a luxury. Parents in particular note that a full day of “doing nothing” is hard to come by when managing kids’ activities and juggling household logistics.

What to Know: Overall, the concept gives you the freedom to step away from hustle culture for a day, which can reduce stress and improve focus for Monday. Even small changes, like a slow breakfast, a device-free walk, or a long lunch with a friend, can change how your week feels.

This Caffeine Alternative Promises Energy Without the Jitters

You Should Know: Another celebrity has entered the energy drink space — this time it’s Kim Kardashian. Her new product contains paraxanthine, marketed as an alternative to caffeine, without the jitters or crashes. But what exactly is paraxanthine, and does it deliver the same energy boost people are looking for?

Going Deeper: Paraxanthine is closely related to caffeine — it’s actually a direct byproduct of it. When our bodies metabolize caffeine, it’s broken down into three compounds, with paraxanthine being the most prominent. Some of those other compounds may contribute to jitteriness, which could help explain why paraxanthine feels different. Like caffeine, it gives us a jolt by blocking adenosine receptors — the chemical that builds up throughout the day to signal tiredness — helping keep us alert.

Takeaway: Research on paraxanthine has been promising, but not yet conclusive. Animal studies found rats had less jittery, anxious tendencies with paraxanthine than caffeine. Some research in humans suggests paraxanthine may also raise blood pressure less and boost cognitive performance more than caffeine.

Bottom Line: Experts caution that more research is still needed. And the two aren’t directly interchangeable in terms of doses, so it’s best to start with lower amounts — paraxanthine still delivers the same stimulant effects as caffeine.

Not That: Buttered white toast

White toast with butter is quick, but it’s mostly refined carbs and fat with little staying power. Adding protein and fiber turns it into something that actually fuels you. Same effort, way more return.

Serves: 4 | Cook Time: 35 minutes

This veggie-packed pasta is as satisfying as it is simple. You can keep it extra wholesome with whole-wheat penne, then toss it in a creamy homemade pesto that brings everything together. Bright broccoli rabe adds a fresh bite, while white beans boost the protein and make the sauce even more silky. It’s nourishing, flavorful, and comes together quickly for a no-stress weeknight dinner.
