The words we use in our daily lives do so much more than just communicate. They shape the way we think, what we notice, and even what we believe is possible for ourselves.
Case Kenny has spent years exploring how intentional language can help us change those patterns — and now he’s bringing that approach to a free 7-day Mantra Challenge. Each day, you’ll learn how to use your own words to get clearer on what you want and start speaking the next chapter of your life into reality. Learn more about the challenge, and sign up here.

This Patch Claims to Treat Lactose Intolerance. Does It Work?
Adolfo Félix/Unsplash
The Trend: The wellness patch market has exploded in recent years, to the point where there’s seemingly a patch for any ailment. New to the patch batch is one that claims to treat lactose intolerance. But can it do the job like an oral tablet can?
What People Are Saying: The patch brand Barrière makes the Dear Dairy lactose relief patch. It works like other transdermal patches, by slowly and continuously secreting 2.5 mg of lactase into the bloodstream through the skin. Lactase is an enzyme that helps the body break down lactose, the sugar in dairy. People who are lactose intolerant don’t produce enough lactase, resulting in symptoms like bloating, cramping, gas, and other GI issues when they eat dairy.
What to Know: Not having to plan ahead, remember to take pills, or miss out on a milkshake is pretty compelling. (Plus, the patches are cute and waterproof.) Anecdotally, some people claim the patches work, but gastroenterologists are skeptical about their effectiveness, and there’s no solid peer-reviewed research to back up the claims. If you’re lactose intolerant, there’s no harm in trying them, but maybe keep the Lactaid on hand just in case.

Cognitive Health
Your Muscles May Be Giving Your Brain a Boost
Antonio Verdín/Unsplash
Brainpower: You already know strength training builds muscle and supports your metabolism, and you may have even learned that it benefits your brain, too. What’s less obvious, however, is how exactly it does that. One piece of that puzzle is irisin, a hormone your muscles release during exercise that’s been linked to brain health. A new study looked at how this hormone may connect strength training with better memory and cognitive function.
The Study: Researchers followed 30 healthy adults over 65 who completed a 12-week resistance program. The team then drew blood at different times during their workouts and found that a single strength-training workout triggered a spike in irisin. Interestingly, memory improvements were linked to peak levels of the hormone, and participants also picked up noticeably better verbal fluency by the end of the study. However, the burst of irisin was temporary, with levels returning to baseline after exercise.
The Takeaway: When it comes to strength training and the brain, consistency and regular exercise may matter more than the intensity of any single workout.
Keep in Mind: This was a small study focused on adults over 65, so scientists still need to confirm the pattern holds for younger lifters and over longer stretches.

Does Creatine Really Cause Hair Loss?
Jonathan Castañeda/Unsplash
You Should Know: Creatine is best known as a workout-boosting supplement, but research suggests it may also benefit parts of your body, from the brain to the gut. But could creatine cause hair loss? While the topic is a big debate in the fitness industry, there’s little proof that taking this supplement will lead to your strands falling out.
Going Deeper: The claim can be traced back to a small 2009 study of 20 college rugby players. After three weeks of taking creatine, the players’ levels of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone derived from testosterone, rose 56%. DHT can contribute to male-pattern hair loss by binding to hair follicles and gradually shrinking them.
Importantly, the study measured DHT, not hair loss. It was also small and short, and its results haven’t been replicated. Subsequent research has failed to find meaningful increases in testosterone or DHT with creatine.
A 2025 randomized controlled trial gave 38 men either five grams of creatine or a placebo daily for 12 weeks. Researchers measured hormones and hair health and found no significant differences in DHT, testosterone, hair density, follicle count, or hair thickness.
Takeaway: Current evidence does not support creatine as a cause of hair loss.
Bottom Line: Your hair is safe — you can keep enjoying the benefits of creatine.

Walk Before the Scroll
When you hit that restless, bored, phone-grabby moment, try moving first. Take a lap around the block, walk to the end of the street, or just step outside for two minutes. You can still scroll later. But giving your body first dibs can change the whole direction of the break.
