How well are you aging? Not how you feel — how you actually score.
Most people don’t know where they stand on the metrics that matter most for longevity. The Super Age Games are designed to change that. On November 7 in New York City, competitors will take on eight research-backed challenges built to measure how well they’re really aging.
We’ve watched our sister brand, Super Age, build this from the ground up — and it’s something special. We think you’ll love it. But space is limited and tickets are going fast, so grab your spot while you still can.

Can a Banana Peel Facial Really Work Like Botox?
Tehzeeb Kazmi/Unsplash
The Trend: Every couple of months there’s a new TikTok skincare trend that promises flawless skin with fewer wrinkles. We’ve seen beef tallow, snail mucin, and salmon sperm, but now, banana peels are trending — with fans claiming Botox-like results. While a banana peel facial is certainly way more affordable than fillers and more eco-friendly than jars of skincare products, dermatologists aren’t quite sold.
What People Are Saying: Banana peels are loaded with nutrients, especially vitamin C — which is a common ingredient in skincare products. It’s also an antioxidant, which can decrease inflammation, brighten skin, and fight free-radical damage that can cause wrinkles and fine lines. Banana peels also contain other antioxidant compounds, but it’s unclear how much (if any) is actually transferred into the skin — so calling banana peels the next Botox is, well, bananas.
What to Know: Dermatologists say there’s no research that confirms rubbing banana peels on your face will be beneficial for your skin. Using skincare products with vitamin C is a much more effective way to deliver the antioxidant to your skin, but unless you have eczema, sensitive skin, a banana allergy, or another condition, a banana facial probably won’t do any harm.

Why Is Everyone Chewing This Gum?
Courtesy: Nathan & Sons
Gum isn’t just about fresh breath anymore. A growing wave of “functional chewing” is taking off, with people rethinking gum as a small daily habit that can actually support oral health.
Prime example: Underbrush Gum from Nathan & Sons. They’ve been gaining traction for its clean formula — no plastic gum base, no artificial additives — and its firmer chew, which some say adds a little extra work for the jaw. It’s built with remineralizing ingredients designed to support enamel over time, turning something mindless into something more intentional.

New Research Explains Why Cutting Carbs Can Move the Scale
Yeh Xintong/Unsplash
Breaking Bread: It's true that weight gain comes down to calories in versus calories out. Well, for the most part. A new study from Osaka Metropolitan University in Japan has uncovered some nuance to that rule, specifically about how carbohydrates interact with your metabolism.
The Study: Mice were divided into several feeding groups and given access to standard food, along with carb-rich options such as bread or flour. Across the board, the mice strongly preferred the carb-heavy stuff and stopped eating their regular diet. Even though they weren't consuming more calories overall, their body weight and fat mass increased. Researchers measured their energy expenditure and found that the mice were simply burning less energy. However, weight and metabolic markers improved relatively quickly after wheat flour was removed from their diets.
The Takeaway: Carb-heavy eating may slow your metabolic rate in unexpected ways that calorie counts alone don't capture. You don't need to remove carbs entirely, but a more balanced diet that includes protein and fat appears to support metabolic function.
Keep in Mind: This was a mouse study, so these results might not be replicable in humans.

Your Activewear May Have a PFAS Problem
Austin/Unsplash
You Should Know: You may not think much about what your workout leggings are made of. But Texas just launched an investigation into Lululemon alleging its activewear may contain PFAS, or perfluoroalkyl substances, the dreaded “forever chemicals” linked to serious long-term health risks. Though Lululemon says it phased them out more than two years ago, this definitely makes you wonder what’s lurking in the rest of your closet.
Going Deeper: PFAS get into our clothing during manufacturing as a fluorinated coating that makes fabric repel water, stains, oil, and sweat. One independent test of 32 activewear pieces found fluorine in roughly one in four items. The chemicals have been linked to endocrine disruption, certain cancers, fertility concerns, and hormone imbalances. Research suggests they can permeate our skin through sweat and friction, but dermal absorption is a less efficient route into our bodies than swallowing or inhaling them.
Takeaway: To avoid this risk, look for OEKO-TEX Standard 100 or GOTS-certified labels (or check this list of PFAS-free products), and be careful with water-repellent, stain-resistant, wrinkle-free, or “performance” gear as those are the most likely to contain PFAS.
Bottom Line: The full health impact of PFAS in clothing requires more research, but cutting your exposure where it’s easy can’t hurt.

Are Your Training For Healthspan?
Courtesy: Super Age
Most of us have a sense of how fit we are. The Super Age Games test how long you’ll live well. Eight trials, each measuring a longevity marker you can train: functional strength, aerobic capacity, agility, endurance, balance, grip strength, working memory, and relational capacity.
November 7, New York City. 960 spots. If you've been waiting for a reason to train with purpose, this is it.
Eat it for breakfast, lunch, or dinner — quiche is one of the most versatile dishes out there. This one highlights tender asparagus alongside crispy bacon and gooey Swiss cheese. It really only requires 20 to 30 minutes of active prep before baking in the oven, but if you do have the time, you can also roast the asparagus with garlic and onion beforehand for added depth of flavor.

Gum Is Dead. Long Live Gum
Most gum is built on plastic and designed to mask problems. Underbrush takes a different approach — a clean, sugar-free formula that supports enamel with remineralizing ingredients while delivering a noticeably firmer chew. Some users even say that texture helps work the jaw over time. With a subscription, it’s one less thing to think about — and one more daily habit that actually does something.
