Fans purport it can encourage lymphatic drainage, boost energy and mood, help with weight loss, and improve the skin. Here’s what you should know before you take the leap. 

What People Are Saying: The “50 jumps challenge” doesn’t involve major jumps, like box jumping — think lower-impact bouncing. It takes only about a minute to do, and you don’t need any special equipment. Jumping does improve bone density, as do strength training, running, or other weight-bearing activities. The claims about lymphatic drainage, weight loss, and skin improvement, though, are likely overblown. Still, experts say it could help wake you up and get blood circulating

What to Know: The “50 jumps challenge” isn’t going to be a magic fix, but getting more “exercise snacks” during the day is always a good idea. If you have joint or back pain or pelvic floor issues (especially if you’re a woman over 35), starting your morning with some stretching is likely a better alternative.
